You are the person who knows the most about your situation, your relationships, and your goals. You are  the person who can find the most creative solutions to your problems, the strength of commitment for pursuing your goals, and the deepest meaning for improving your relationships. You do this by thinking — and thinking is not a spectator sport.

So how does coaching help with these eminently personal issues? A coach that you know, like, and trust can help by asking helpful questions, teaching useful skills, and adding an objective perspective when you evaluate your progress or problems.

In this free call, Lin Zinser and Jean Moroney discuss how coaching works in the Thinking Lab. Several of Lin’s private coaching clients get live coaching from her, and she and Jean discuss how you can make the same kinds of connections by yourself — or with help.

Did you set goals for the year? How are you doing on them? If you haven’t made observable progress on your goals, you may need help in formulating your goals so that they will guide and motivate you to successful results.
 
In this call, Jean Moroney gives a quick overview of the three main categories of goals: visions, objectives, and key results. She discusses how to set each of these so that they guide and motivate action to a successful finish.
 
Then she opens up the call for coaching on real goals. Those who wanted to be coached on their goal, came with the answers to these 4 questions:
  • What is the long-range positive vision–the positive results you want to create?
  • What is the corresponding negative vision–the negatives you will eliminate?
  • How much time do you have to work on this goal on a weekly basis?
  • Do you have a short-term goal, and if so, what is it?
