What is an AMA session? AMA stands for “Ask Me Anything.” The 60-minute sessions are an Open Q&A with Jean Moroney for all Thinking Lab members (Regular, Mentoring, and Trials). Any question remotely related to the Thinking Lab material is fair game. This includes questions specific to the recent classes, questions related to recorded classes or library materials, questions related to the Thinking Directions newsletter, questions related to Launch, etc.
Can I get coached by Jean during an AMA? Yes, you can get coached on your particular challenge during the AMA. This could mean getting advice, or our going through a self-coaching model, or some other tactic. For more efficient coaching, send me an email at least an hour in advance explaining the issue in detail.
Can I submit an anonymous question for an AMA? Yes, if Lin Zinser and I receive it one day in advance. I often discuss specific submissions with Lin, so it will not be anonymous to her.
How do you get in the queue for the AMA? To get in the queue, please give me your topic/question in writing in advance. Here’s how I run the AMA’s:
Some people email me and Lin in advance, and some people write questions in the chat when they join the call before the recording starts. Emailing in advance is generally better than chat–but writing something in the chat is good enough. I will finalize the agenda at the top of the hour, then start the recording.
- Write at least a couple of sentences. Then I can start thinking about the issue immediately, which helps me give better advice.
- It’s okay if the topic morphs a bit between the time you write it and the time we discuss it on the call.
- If you might not be there on time, email us well in advance so I can reserve your place. Lin helps me keep track of emailed issues.
- We’ll put questions/issues from people who are not in attendance at the end of the queue.
- I will answer all questions. Sometimes that means I run a little over.
Don’t be shy about asking your question or raising your issue! Guaranteed, you are not alone. Your willingness to discuss your issue helps everyone in the Thinking Lab.
How often are AMA’s held? There are at least six AMA’s a year. There is always an AMA in a month that doesn’t have Thinking Days, which are another opportunity to ask questions and get coaching. There could be additional AMA’s scheduled in lieu of Master Classes. I guarantee at least 3 live Thinking Lab events a month. If we have only two scheduled, I add in an extra AMA.
